Classic cars and Historic Rallying

Postby TangoVictor on Mon Apr 19, 2010 12:49 pm

I note that a number of people in the village own classic cars, but are they just polished, and driven occasionally? As a fan of car rallying, I currently compete on historic car rallies. Are there any like-minded people, who would like to know more? You can compete in all sorts of events, from simple tours, to full blown stage rallying. I have been involved for too many years to remember, and competed in lots of countries. Feel free to ask, or we could even create a Burbage Rally Team?

Mudflaps,
I am competing in the Historic Rally Car Register Clubmans Championship in a Rover 2000 TC. There are further rounds miles away, in Kent, for example, but my next event is the Ross Traders.
http://www.rossmotorsports.co.uk/Ross%20Traders.htm this is the Gloucester area.
also try HRCR web page, and click on Scenic Tours, as well as Clubmans.
The Triumph Owners Club recently ran a tour that went through Marlborough. Lots of TR3, TR4, Stag, even an MGA, however that managed to run in a Triumph event!
I used to rally a lot from 1969 through to 1989, including World, European, and Middle East Championship rallies. I started competing again quite recently, but now with an interest in Historic events.
I also have a Lancia Flavia, but like most Italian cars of that age, it is awaiting the angle grinder and welding torch!
Cars I know of in the village are: Aston Martin, Austin, Austin Healey, MG, Lagonda, Lancia, Rover, Triumph, and a couple of rare racing cars - there could be more. I'm currently trying to find a garage or barn for the Rover, so I can find space to restore the Lancia.
Call 07826 858913, or email hel.fire@talk21.com, if you want more information.
